terms

the short version
- be kind. no hate, harassment, threats or sexual content - we have zero tolerance for it, and we remove it and the accounts that post it.
- what you make is yours. you let us show it in the app to the people you’ve chosen.
- routes are made by other walkers, not checked by us. you decide whether a route is safe for you, every time.
- the app is free.
1. agreeing to these terms
these terms are an agreement between you and Thoraya Maronesy (“we”, “us”). by creating an account or using the app, you agree to them and to our privacy policy. if you don’t agree, please don’t use the app.
2. who can use the app
you must be at least 13 years old to use can i walk with you?. you can’t use the app if we’ve removed you from it before.
3. your account
- keep your password to yourself. you’re responsible for what happens on your account.
- one person per account. don’t pretend to be someone else, and don’t pick a handle that does.
- if you think someone else is using your account, tell us at hello@caniwalkwithyou.com.
- you can delete your account at any time from settings. our privacy policy explains what that removes.
4. the app is free
can i walk with you? is free, and nothing in it costs money. if we ever add paid features, they’ll be sold through Apple, and we’ll update these terms first.
5. what you post
- what you make is yours - your routes, walks, notes, photos, videos, drawings and comments.
- you let us use it to run the app. we store it, and show it in the app to the people you’ve chosen (everyone, only your followers, or only you). this permission ends when you delete it or your account. it doesn’t cover copies other people already have, like a share card someone saved.
- only post what you have the right to post. that means your own photos and words, and nothing that belongs to someone else.
- be careful with other people. don’t post someone’s photo, name or private details without their permission. don’t make a stop at someone’s home.
6. the rules - zero tolerance
we have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. don’t post or send anything that:
- is hateful, or attacks people for who they are (race, ethnicity, religion, disability, gender, sexual orientation, or anything like it)
- harasses, bullies, threatens or intimidates anyone
- is sexual, sexually explicit or pornographic, or sexualises anyone under 18
- shows or encourages violence, self-harm, or illegal activity
- shares someone’s private information, like where they live
- is spam, a scam, or pretends to be someone else
also don’t: try to get into someone else’s account, collect other people’s information, scrape the app, break or overload it, or try to get around a block.
7. reporting, blocking and removal
- report anything that breaks these rules: tap “⋯” on a post, a walk, a profile, a route or a comment. reports come straight to us, and the person you report is never told who reported them.
- block someone to stop seeing each other anywhere in the app. blocking also removes their comments, likes and reposts from your walks and routes.
- you can delete comments on your own walks and routes.
- we review reports within 24 hours. if 3 different people report the same thing, it’s hidden from everyone but the person who posted it until we’ve reviewed it. we remove content that breaks these rules. we suspend or remove the accounts that post it, and may do that without warning.
8. walking safely
routes are made by other walkers. we don’t visit, check or vouch for them. places change - construction, lighting, traffic, weather, the time of day - and a route that felt fine to the person who made it may not be right for you, today.
you’re responsible for your own safety, and for deciding whether and how to walk any route or visit any stop. before and during a walk:
- look up the area yourself and use your own judgment - not only what the app shows
- prefer daylight, and areas you already know or that are well-traveled
- tell someone you trust where you’re going, especially for a new route
- watch where you’re going, not your phone, and follow traffic rules
- respect private property and the rules of every place you visit
- stop or turn back if anything feels wrong - trust that over finishing the route
the app asks you to agree to this before your first walk.
9. maps, directions and places
maps, walking directions and place information come from Apple and OpenStreetMap, and from what other walkers typed in. they can be wrong, out of date or incomplete - a path may be closed, or a place may have closed or changed its hours. always follow what you see around you and any signs, not the app.
10. ending things
you can stop using the app and delete your account whenever you like. we can suspend or end your access if you break these terms, or to protect other people. we may change or stop the app, or parts of it, at any time.
11. the legal part
we work hard on the app, but we provide it “as is”, without promises that it will always work, be accurate, or be available.
as far as the law allows, we’re not responsible for:
- anything that happens to you or your things while walking a route, visiting a stop, or meeting anyone
- anything other people post
- losses that come indirectly from using the app
nothing in these terms takes away rights that the law says you always have.
12. changes to these terms
if we change these terms in a way that matters, we’ll tell you in the app before the change takes effect. if you keep using the app after that, you agree to the new terms.
13. the law that applies
these terms are governed by the laws of the State of California.
